Hello friends and guests.
After a very busy and exciting summer season, we have just closed the resort for another year. And what a year it’s been !!! It was great to see all the returning guests this summer and especially nice to meet the new ones that came to share some of their precious holiday time with us at “The Island”. We have to admit, we have one group of guests that are not invited back this year…..the family of raccoons that called the resort home last winter. What a mess they made in the main lodge!!!
We already are looking forward to returning in the Spring. As most of you witnessed, we have undertaken many improvement projects during this year. From the new signage, the facelift at “The Landing”, the purchase of the 38’ houseboat and many construction projects on “The Island”, we continue to focus our efforts and resources on making your experience better.
We were very pleased to have the assistance of Ron and Dolly for most of the year. Their experience is helpful and further enhances the enjoyment of the resort, for our guests. Looking forward to 2008, we have several big announcements to share with you. Firstly, we are very pleased to advise that the resort has just finalized an agreement with a local couple that will be joining the staff in 2008.
Donna and Ken Gibson have been employed by another very popular resort on the lake for over 10 years. They bring with them a wealth of experience and knowledge in the tourist industry. Ken joins the group as our Mgr of Maintenance and Equipment and Donna is the Mgr of Food and Housekeeping services.
The resort is now well positioned for the future. We could only have anticipated adding one strong couple to the staff earlier this season, but are thrilled to announce that both will be joining us in 2008. Along with all the returning staff, your next visit to Eagle Lake Island Lodge should be an exciting one.
What projects have we been working on this Fall?
1- The facelift, including new windows, door, roof and exterior siding to “Dogwood” cabin.
2- Leveling including new foundation blocks under all guest cabins.
3- Repainting of the main dock, front deck of the lodge and various other buildings.
4- Retrofit of the pantry area in the main lodge.
5- Construction of new wood shed and clean up of wood pile at the lodge.
6- A complete reworking of Tamarack cabin, including raising the roof, extending the living area and adding a screened in porch facing the lake. This cabin will comfortably sleep 8 guests next season.
What other projects are planned for 2008?…..come visit and see for yourself !!!
In 2007, we embarked on a campaign to expose the resort to additional marketplaces throughout North America. Four additional tradeshows were successfully added to the existing schedule. Over 50 new guests came from these new markets. In 2008, we have decided to add several other locations. The business will continue to grow from these venues alone.
At the end of June, we hosted Canada’s oldest and best known TV fishing show at the resort. During Canadian Sportfishing’s 5 day visit, they filmed enough to air 4 complete episodes.
“The smallmouth bass & walleye fishing was so good at Eagle Lake Island Lodge that we were able to shoot enough footage for several shows in a matter of hours with most of the bass measuring in the 17-19” range, and the walleye measuring 16-25…that’s “wilderness fishing at it’s best!” Italo Labignan, host of The Canadian Sportfishing Show.
In 2008, they will be returning to film two additional episodes on Northern Pike and the elusive Muskie. We can’t wait for the first show to air on TSN (Canada’s Sports Network), in early 2008. The response from guests has been very positive about this project.

Also, check the website when we announce the 2007 winners of our “Eagle Lake Island Lodge” trophies. They were on display in the main lodge all season. The winners are asked to come to their local tradeshow venue to receive their trophy, prize and have their photo taken in the booth. Did you enter? Watch for your name on the website?
